Description

Name owner: Iahirdis

Title owner: The illuminated, the Osiris, general

Dimensions (hxwxd): 16.9 x 4.4 x 3.4 cm

Translation hieroglyphs: The Illuminated, the Osiris, the General, Iahirdis, born to Shesemtet, (chapter VI follows)

Preservation: Intact

R-R: 12.14

Provenance: Sold by a Paris antiquities dealer to the current owner.

Comments: The name Iahirdis means “It is the moon that made him”. His mother name is “Shesemtet” (dangerous lion goddess).

This shabti dates to the 30th dynasty and shows that the quality of shabti making could still be very high.

No published parallels are known to me. I know of two other unpublished parallels. One was sold by a US antiquities dealer from a former Belgium collection (smaller in seize and less in quality) and another nice example by a different Paris antiquities dealer.
